Newsroom March 18 06:05

The long-awaited telephone conversation between US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping took place and, according to the first information, the latter insisted that “the conflict and the confrontation are not in anyone’s interest”.

According to Chinese state media, Jinping argued that “relations between states can not go to the stage of military confrontation. Peace and security are the most beloved treasures of the international community”.

According to the same -Chinese- sources, Xi Jinping told Biden that the United States should also take part of the responsibility and make efforts for world peace.

“As permanent members of the UN Security Council and the two largest economies in the world, we must not only lead the development of Sino-US relations on the right track, but also shoulder our international responsibilities and work for world peace and calm”, Xi is said to have stressed.

Just yesterday, the American side had openly expressed its concern about the possibility of China getting involved in the war in Ukraine, strengthening Russia militarily.

On the other hand, the Chinese Foreign Ministry had blamed Washington for the conflict in Ukraine, attributing the war to NATO expansion to the East.

It is still unknown what the American president said to Xi Jinping in this two-hour communication.
