Bild claim: Greek, Russian leaders eye… anti-Merkel pact

More inflammatory Bild theories…

German tabloid Bild returned to the sensationalist this week by insinuating that Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ official visit to Moscow on Wednesday  for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin aim to create an anti-Western front, serving each for different reasons.

The article claims Putin and Tsipras envision the creation of a political front against German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The paper points to the political background of both leaders, one who rose through the ranks of the KGB in the old Soviet Union and Tsipras, who as a teen was a member of Greece’s Communist Party youth.

The Bild article warns that Athens needs to pay 450 mln euros to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Thursday. If Athens fails to meet the payment, the article predicts that Greece would default bringing down Tsipras and his government.
