Eva Kaili to remain in prison

The judges decided the extension of her detention in Haren prison

The Belgian judges decided to extend Eva Kaili’s detention in the prison of Haren.

The Greek MEP will be able to request her release from prison again in one month.

The announcement states that, “as part of a large-scale Federal Prosecutor’s Office investigation into alleged organized crime, corruption and money laundering, E.K. appeared this afternoon before the pre-trial chambers of the Court of First Instance of Brussels.

In its order this morning, the pre-council confirmed the pretrial detention of E.K.

If she appeals against this decision within 24 hours, she will appear before the indictment division of the Brussels Court of Appeal within 15 days.
