Bulgaria: “We are discussing with Greece the construction of a nuclear power plant”

Cooperation in the port of Alexandroupolis as well

Newsroom February 28 04:14

The Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Assen Vassilev spoke about negotiations that have begun with Greece over the construction of a new nuclear power plant.

According to the Bulgarian official, speaking to the NOVA network, the signing of a 20-year contract with Greece for electricity from the new unit, as well as cooperation in the port of Alexandroupolis are being discussed.

“We have started negotiations with our Greek colleagues for the construction of a new nuclear power plant in our country, which will be used by Greece with a long-term, 20-year contract. We will act extremely fast, since there is a buyer”, stressed Vassilev, noting that the two countries already cooperate excellently in the energy sector, referring to the liquefied gas terminal in Alexandroupolis.

“We are already participating in the liquefied gas terminal in Alexandroupolis. We are in talks with our southern neighbors and we have their support for participation in the port itself, so that we have commercial access to the Aegean Sea”, said the Bulgarian government’s Deputy Prime Minister.
