Villa Godilonda in Castiglioncello, 85 kilometers south of Florence, that was once the summer residence of the Bulgari jewelry family was sold after sitting empty for years. The 28-bedroom seaside villa was built on the site of a 4th-century Etruscan village.
The late 19th-century building of 1,700 square meters has its own private beach and a classic swiming pool, gymnasium and sauna.
The Bulgari family bought the villa for their summer holidays after WWII and later renovated it as a luxury resort. Guests to this home included one of Italy’s most acclaimed poets and playwrights, Gabriele D’Annunzio, and Italian movie stars such as Marcello Mastroianni, Vittorio Gassman and Walter Chiari.
Greek jeweler Sotirio Bulgari’s next of kin have expanded their luxury resorts to Milan in 2004 and Bali in 2006 and brothers Paolo and Nicola Bulgari debuted on the World Billionaires list last year.
The Eastern Euorpean businessman who bought the historic property says that a renovation is in order.
