A Chinese company used 3D printers to construct a five-story building using waste material. The project’s architects claim that this is the tallest building in the world built using this technology.
This new leap has been made by WinSun Decoration Design Engineering Co, a company based in Shanghai. The same company built a 1,100 sq m villa in the past, using 3D printers, in the Suzhou industrial park, in Jiangsu, China.
In any case, it is yet unknown how comfortable living conditions will be in these buildings. However, the villa, which comes fully equipped cost around 160,000 USD.
According to the company, the builders required a full day to print one level and five to put it together. In order to complete the construction, the company used a huge 3D printer, 150 meters long and 6 meters high.
The company uses waste material as its 3D printing materials, which contains glass fibers, cement, etc.
According to the company, this method can be used to save up material by 30-60%, while it can also reduce production times by 50-70%. It should be noted that only last April, the company was able to “print” 10 full-sized houses in just one day.
