China’s one billion Santorini-Inspired Resort: Explore the Oia-like Beauty – Video

It is a mountainous settlement called “Dali State” and is essentially a large resort with luxury hotels

The beauty and uniqueness of Santorini is known all over the world and that’s why… they were jealous in China.

In a province of China, Yunnan, they wanted to build a miniature of the island of Cyclades to have a taste of Greece a little closer to them.

@yasminvroon 😵in 🇨🇳 I suddenly found my self in Santorini! 🇬🇷 I guess you probably had no idea about this place, I am wondering if Greek people and people from Santorini know that there is a replica of Santorini that in Chinese is pronounced “Shèng tuō lǐ ní” (圣托里尼).✨ If you wonder why.. well… Chinese people do really love the vibes of the iconic Santorini and sometimes can be difficult to travel far away, so why not building one ?! 🤣 #santorini #圣托里尼 #fakesantorini #yunnan #dali #china #chinatravel #greece #中国 #chinatravel #realchina ♬ original sound – official_yasmin

It is a mountainous settlement called “Dali State” and is essentially a large resort with luxury hotels reminiscent of Santorini. It overlooks a lake and has tourist inns, businesses, apartments and small winding streets adorned with flowers and plants.

It covers an area of 3,700 hectares and a total investment of 1 billion euros was required to create it.

The creation may also be based on Santorini, but it is far from being reminiscent of the original version. It does, however, feature white buildings, blue domes, alleyways and panoramic water views.

The Chinese love to stay in Santorini and some find the resort in Yunnan an alternative.

For the Chinese, it is the ambitious high-end tourist destination, attractive to a population that cannot travel abroad but can afford an “international experience”.

Santorini and in Abu Dhabi

Santorini has not only stolen the hearts of the Chinese, as evidenced by the fact that you will also find a miniature version of Santorini in Abu Dhabi, which is, however, only for adults.

The resort “Anantara Santorini Abu Dhabi Retreat” has 22 rooms, which start from 735 dollars a night.

To get to “Anantara Santorini” one will have to drive for 40 minutes between gas extraction facilities and a naval base. But once through the gates of the resort, it feels like you’ve suddenly found yourself in the Cyclades. The white buildings transport him to Santorini.
