The day for the election of the new leader of New Democracy is near with less than 24 hours until the polls open.

Tomorrow at 7am the polls open with two candidates fighting for ND leadership, Vangelis Meimarakis and Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Supporters of New Democracy will be able to cast their vote from 7am to 7pm on Sunday and until 11pm it is estimated to get clear result.

Mr. Meimarakis enters the ‘battle’ with a lead of 11%, during the first round of election since he received 39.8%, while Kyriakos Mitsotakis got 28.5%.

The two basic elements that will probable determine the final result of election are the percentage of participation and the vote of 128,000 persons who in the first round voted for the two other candidates, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, who got 20.4%,  and Adonis Georgiadis, who received 11.3%.

Mr. Georgiadis has clearly stated his support for Mr. Mitsotakis, while Mr. Tzitzikostas called the supporters of New Democracy to vote according to their conscience, even though his statements and recent photos of him and Mr. Mitsotakis imply a support for Mr. Mitsotakis.
