Democratic Left demands investigation over Lagarde’s allegations

“I better not say too much because, you know, when I have talked about Greece and its taxes before, I got death threats and we had to increase security,” Lagarde said

MPs of Democratic Left (DIMAR) asked for judicial and administrative investigation over the allegations expressed by the head of IMF Christine Lagarde concerning threats made against her by Greek tax evaders.

Specifically, MPS Nikos Tsoukalis, Dimitris Anagnostakis, Asimina Xirotiri and Niki Founta asked the Ministers of Justice and Finance to proceed to investigation regarding the statements of Lagarde published in Financal Times.

“I better not say too much because, you know, when I have talked about Greece and its taxes before, I got death threats and we had to increase security,” Lagarde said.

The MPs asked whether the government was aware of those facts, and if so, what Greek justice and other relevant government departments did. But, if the government was not aware of that, they asked whether they were determined to proceed to judicial and administrative investigation on those statements.
