Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” re-recorded for Ebola

All proceeds of the latest recording will aid Ebola research

Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure have announced that the Band Aid classic, “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, is to be released for a fourth time, this time to raise funds for the fight against Ebola in West Africa. The track, written by the duo in 1984, was to raise money for the famine in Ethiopia.

Some of the U.K.’s topselling artists are to contribute to the Band Aid recording including One Direction, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran to Adele, Emeli Sandé and Ellie Goulding as well as Bastille and Mercuri, Elbow, Coldplay, U2 front-man Bono contributing for a third time.

“We called up some giants, and they said they would come again to the party. Three weeks ago I got a call from the UN saying they required a 20% increase across the board. They are very concerned about the situation in west Africa,” said Sir Geldof who has retweaked some of the lyrics to reflect the Ebola cause.

All of the proceeds will go towards battling Ebola.
