Dombrovskis to Handesblatt: Greek deal unlikely on April 24

The newspaper says delay caused by SYRIZA government’s unwillingness to implement pension and labour market reforms

The German mass daily Handesblatt quotes EU Commission vice-president Valdis Dombrovskis on Tuesday as saying that an agreement between Greece and its EZ creditors at a closely watched April 24 Eurogroup meeting is “unlikely”.

The newspaper puts the blame for the delay on the SYRIZA government’s unwillingness to implement pension reforms and to continue labour market liberalization.

Dombrovskis forecast that the Riga summit won’t aprove Greek reforms, with the Eurogroup setting more likely to assess progress. A decision to release funds could come at a May 11 meeting, the paper said.
