Earthquake in Turkey and Syria – Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens: May God give strength to people of Turkey and Syria

“We pray to God for every possible solace and we stand in solidarity with the friendly peoples of Turkey and Syria,” he said in his message

“All Greeks, with pain in their souls are watching in shock, in the last few hours the tragic loss of lives of hundreds of our fellow citizens in neighbouring Turkey and Syria from the devastating earthquakes. May God give strength to each and everyone and may the agony for the thousands of missing persons come to an end, so that we do not mourn more innocent victims”, said the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Ieronymos II, after the powerful earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria, resulting in over 2 thousand deaths and many missing.

The Archbishop emphasised that “I am sure that, as we did in 1999, so today, the Greeks will be close to our neighbours in every way and that the Greek State will practically stand by their side, offering all possible help. We pray to God for every possible solace and we stand in solidarity with the friendly peoples of Turkey and Syria.”
