Emergency government meeting tonight – Lenders’ proposal unacceptable, as it stands

After the meeting between Tsipras, Merkel, Hollande

Developments over the negotiations with lenders are moving at a torrential pace. According to valid sources, PM Alexis Tsipras has made the decision to call the government Cabinet tonight in order to evaluate the lenders’ proposal and set the strategy to be followed in tomorrow’s Eurogroup.

This development comes shortly after the meeting between Mr. Tsirpas, Mrs. Merkel and Mr. Hollande, during which the PM underlined that he does not understand the institutions’ insisting on such harsh measures.

According to said valid sources from Brussels, the text of the Institutions presented to the Greeks is worse than a memorandum. The same sources clarify that the method followed by Europe is unacceptable, and underline that Europe should be focused on values of democracy and solidarity.

Government sources thus state: “We will not be accepting the solution as it has so far been presented. We await a new one tomorrow. We are not covered by the proposal because its fiscal part barely covers the payment to lenders, let alone any other part of the economy”.

On his part, German FinMin Wolfgang Schaeuble stated that the possibilities of an agreement are split evenly, 50-50.
