EU Plan B on refugee issue: Greece turned into ‘a warehouse of refugees and immigrants’

While Greece receives thousands of refugees and immigrants, FYROM and Serbia impose stricter border controls and Austria accepts only 80 refugees per day

The Greek government has now to deal with the consequences of its policies on refugee issue, since, despite the rhetoric of Prime Minister, the promise made by EU leaders that the status quo on the borders of Europe would remain did not last more than 24 hours.

But, even though the risk of Greece being expelled from Schengen area leading to negative consequences for Greek citizens and tourists, European Union has been prepared for the “Plan B” that would turn Greece into ‘a warehouse of refugees and illegal immigrants’. And this is a development that the Greek government seems to have accepted, with the consent of the opposition. It should also be noted that during the recent meeting held between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and main opposition party New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Mrs. Merkel told him “it is good that there are no objections posed by opposition”.

While the Greek islands receive thousands of refugees and immigrants from Turkey every day, FYROM and Serbia impose stricter border controls resulting to 4,500 refugees waiting in Idomeni, Greece to enter FYROM, while Austria insists on accepting only 80 refugees per day.
