Ev. Venizelos: Parliamentary democracy is of the highest value

In his message, Mr. Venizelos stressed that “the tragic anniversary of April 21, 1967 compels us to always remember the value of parliamentary democracy, respect for human rights and the rule of law”

The highest value of parliamentary democracy and respect for human rights, underlined in his message on the occasion of April 21 PASOK’s president, Evangelos Venizelos.

In his message, Mr. Venizelos stressed that “the tragic anniversary of April 21, 1967 compels us to always remember the value of parliamentary democracy, respect for human rights and the rule of law. Only the historical experience of the dictatorship and the Civil War that led to it, allows us to evaluate fairly the period of the regime change that, despite its problems and contradictions, was the best time for the country since the establishment of the new Greek state.
These simple and basic truths should serve as the foundation of our national unity and perspective, especially now that – much to the disappointment of some people – our Homeland , thanks to the sacrifices and struggles of its people, has started to turn over a new leaf and exit the crisis”.
