Famous Greek actor Spyros Fokas dies 86 (video-photos)

The beloved actor Spyros Fokas passed away this morning.

The sad news was announced by his wife, Lillian, with a post on Facebook.

A few days ago, Lilian Foka posted a photo of the actor, who was clearly suffering.

Director Dimitris Kollatos visited him in the rehabilitation center and the appearance of Spyros Fokas showed the difficulties he was facing.

From Patras to Hollywood

Spyros Fokas was a Greek actor with an important career abroad, where he participated in major Hollywood productions.

Spyros Fokas was born in Patras on August 17, 1937 and his real name was Spyros Androutsopoulos.

His father was a travel agent and his mother came from Corfu. The Fokas family came to Athens when the actor was 9 years old.

He graduated from Kostis Michaelidis School of Drama.

He lived and worked for many years in the US, but returned to Greece.

Spyros Fokas made his cinema debut in 1959 in Andreas Lambrinou’s film, “Bloody Sunset”.

The film was then screened at the Cannes Film Festival and was the milestone for his international career.

He was married four times with his first marriage taking place when he was 21 years old and the last when he was 76.
