Farmers to drive their tractors to Athens

The farmers are still demanding that the government convene a cross-party committee

Greek farmers decided on Sunday at the crucial meeting at Nikaia Larisa to harden their stance and escalate their protest actions.

Representatives of farmer road blocks throughout Greece, from Evros down to Crete, met there at noon to discuss how to coordinate their action.

Apart from blocking the roads, ports, customs and airports, they also decided to drive their tractors to Athens on Friday where they are expected to stay for two days.

The farmers are still demanding that the government convene a cross-party committee, where parties will be represented at the highest level, in order to deal with their demands.
