Farmers: Which roads will be closed today by the blockades

Farmers’ ongoing mobilizations across Greece –
from highways to border crossings, protests expand amidst growing demands

Farmers across Greece are intensifying their mobilizations, implementing road closures, and targeting customs offices for temporary shutdowns following decisions made during a nationwide meeting in Nikaia, Larissa.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, farmers outlined their immediate demands and appended information on the agricultural crises in Thessaly.

Today’s road closures are part of this ongoing protest movement:

In Western Macedonia, farmers will block the Egnatia road in Grevena and the provincial road connecting Kozani to Florina for specified time slots.

Additionally, the customs office in Kastoria will be closed.

Tomorrow, a significant border closure is planned at the Florina-North Macedonia border, primarily affecting truck traffic.

In Florina, farmers will stage a symbolic two-hour blockade near the Filotas junction this afternoon.

Meanwhile, farmers in Karditsa and Farsala are continuing their protests and awaiting the government’s response. They plan to rally in Karditsa’s central square tomorrow morning and expect support from various sectors, including traders and freelancers.

Additionally, tonight, the General Secretary of the political party KKE, Mr. Dimitris Koutsoumbas, will join the farmers at their blockade, demonstrating solidarity with their cause.
