A 75-year-old man, resident of Astros town in Kynouria, Greece, confessed on Sunday to shooting dead his 39-year-old son and setting fire to the corpse in a car. According to the police, he was assisted by the young man’s mother and other relatives.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the crime involved the victim’s mother, aged 67, his uncle on his father’s side, aged 71, his aunt, aged 70 and his brother-in-law, aged 53.

According to the father’s confession, which included a detailed account of the crime, the murder was a result of family problems.

On August 15, following an intense argument at the family home in Astros, the father shot his son three times and killed him. He was then assisted by his brother (the victim’s uncle) in placing the corpse in the back seat of his car, removing the licence plates, and driving the car to a remote location to set it on fire.

The two men were then picked up by the victim’s brother-in-law and taken to the house, where the victim’s mother and his aunt were cleaning the courtyard of any evidence. According to information, the two women also buried the licence plates in the garden of the house.

All of them were led before the Nafplio prosecutor, the father on charges of murder, arson, perjury and violation of gun laws.

According to Espresso newspaper, the 75-year-old man shows no signs of regret for killing his son. The newspaper claims that when the 75-year-old was informed of his son’s death by the authorities, he seemed unmoved and went to the local cafe to see his friends!

On the other hand, the mother and three other relatives of 39-year old victim have expressed regret for their participation in the brutal crime.
