Financial crisis increases Greek divorce rate

The Financial Crisis may have reduced its divorce rate at the outset but the figures are climbing again

The financial crisis wasn’t able to keep families together according to the Greek Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). Even though the first couple of years of financial strain saw the divorce rate take a dive, new data shows that financial recovery has seen an increase in divorce rates. Divorce rates dropped from 2009 to 2011 from 13.607 to 12,705. In 2012 the numbers climbed to 14,880 divorces for the year.
