Klaus Johannis wins presidential elections

Despite his lead in the first round 42 year old Victor Ponta after his defeat assured that he will continue “to fulfill his duty to the country”

54 year old Romanian right Klaus Johannis won the elections with 54%. The mayor of the town Sibiu noted victory in several considered left stronghold regions.

On the other hand 42 year old Victor Ponta which was in the lead in the first round by 8%, after his defeat in the second round assured that he will continue “to fulfill his duty to the country”.

Last night dozens of thousands of people expressed their solidarity to the Romanians which were not allowed to exercise their right to vote due to the insufficient polling stations.

However, following the result announcement the protest demonstrations soon turned into celebrations.
