Israelis attack truck in the West Bank – Believed to be carrying aid to Gaza

The incident occurred approximately 40 kilometers west of the Jordanian border

Newsroom May 17 02:49

The Israeli army announced today that dozens of Israeli citizens set fire to a truck Thursday evening in the West Bank injuring the driver as well as Israeli soldiers. Israeli media attributed the attack to Jewish settlers who believed the truck was carrying aid to the Gaza Strip. The incident occurred near Kochav Hashahar, a Jewish settlement in the Binyamin region, in the northwestern part of the West Bank.

Israeli soldiers intervened to separate Israeli citizens and the driver of a truck, providing medical assistance. However, citizens responded with violence, lightly injuring three soldiers. The army condemned the vehemence and pledged to hold the perpetrators accountable. The incident occurred about 40 kilometers west of the Jordanian border.

Earlier on Monday, members of an extremist organization obstructed and destroyed trucks carrying humanitarian aid destined for Gaza, near the Tarkumia checkpoint in the West Bank. Israeli soldiers were seen passively observing the destruction. This incident followed an announcement by the Israeli army that certain crossing points would now also check aid for Gaza.

Additionally, aid convoys sent from Jordan on May 1 and May 7 were attacked by Israeli extremists in the West Bank, according to Jordanian authorities.
