Greek authorities are evacuating a nursing home in Voula, as well as four residential settlements in Vari, as the mayor of Voula, Grigoris Konstandellos, announced.

According to Mr. Konstantellos, this is a precautionary evacuation, in order to safeguard the safety of the people.

In particular, the areas of Nea Kalymnos, Exochi, Heroma and Dilofo in Vari are being evacuated, while the nursing home accommodates 300 people. In addition, the SOS children’s villages in Vari are being evacuated, with 80 guests.

Konstandellos, speaking to OPEN TV, stated that no houses have been completely burned. However, 20 houses were damaged, with 4 of them have suffered the most. Cars and motorbikes parked in the area were also damaged.

Despite the strong winds, the fire in the area of Voula is slightly wading and the firefighters are trying to bring it under control. However, the situation is more difficult in the area of Vari, where the flames have spread, creating a huge fiery front.
