Five foreigners remanded on charges of arson as fire in Evros rages

One has been arraigned for intentional arson

Five foreigners have been remanded on charges of arson, one of them with intent for a fire in Evros.

The fire is still raging in the area of Lavara Soufliou without, however, the front inspiring any concern for the Fire Department. Ground and air forces have rushed to the area.

24 firefighters, 11 vehicles, and two helicopters are working on the fire burning in a grassy area.

A very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is predicted tomorrow, Friday, for eight regions of the country, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.

Specifically, a very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is predicted tomorrow for the following areas:

* Region of Attica (including the island of Kythera)
* Region of Central Greece (Evia, Boeotia, Fthiotida, Fokida)
* Region of Peloponnese (EP of Corinth, EP of Argolis, EP of Arcadia, EP of Laconia)
* Region of Western Greece (EP of Achaia, EP of Ilia)
* Region of the Ionian Islands (EP of Zakynthos)
* Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace (EP of Evros including the island of Samothraki)
* North Aegean
Region * South Aegean Region (Cyclades)
