Flare-ups of the fire on Lesvos, lead to evacuation of the village of Vrisa

The aerial forces of the fire brigade were reinforced

Flare-ups of the fires in Lesvos have been recorded, north of the community of Vrisas, which is being evacuated again. Due to the active fire front, aerial firefighting forces have been reinforced.

Water airdrops are being carried out by five aircraft and one helicopter operating at the scene.

The winds blowing in the Lagada position between Vrisas and Polichnitos created a new large front moving west-southwest.

Strong firefighting forces are operating in the area in an effort to contain the flames.

Earlier, it became known that there was no active front, with the residents of the communities of Vrisa and Stavros returning to their homes by decision of the Municipality of Western Lesvos following a recommendation from the Fire Service.

The two villages were evacuated after the large fire in the forest of the area came dangerously close to the settlements.

The fire risk for tomorrow is very high in Attiki, Evia, Boeotia, Argolis, Corinth, Arcadia, Fthiotida, Evros, and the North Aegean islands.
