Forty two undocumented migrants rescued

There are no missing persons

Forty two undocumented migrants were rescued in the sea areas of Agathonissi and Kos island early in the morning.

In the first incident 21 undocumented migrants tore their inflatable vessel when they found out that the Coast Guard had detected them. They were all rescued by a Coast Guard vessel in the sea area north of Agathonissi, northeastern Aegean Sea.

In the second incident, 21 undocumented migrants were also located on an adrift vessel. The migrants abandoned the boat and fell into the sea five nautical miles off Kos island. All migrants were rescued by a Coast Guard vessel.

There are no missing persons.

Shipping and Aegean Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis will give a press conference on Thursday 4 September on the increased inflow of migrants from the sea boarders.
