General Accounting Office of Greece occupied in staged staff sit-in

Citizens will not be served on the only day that the pension office is open

The General Accounting Office of Greece has been occupied as the result of an employee sit-in that kicked off at 8 a.m. on Friday, the only day when it is open to the public. The section that is closed off is the pension office where employees are protesting against the government’s social security plans.

Elderly people wishing to be informed about their pension process and other plans concerning the senior citizens benefits will not be served on Friday as the offices will be occupied until their closing time at 2 p.m. Noteworthy is the fact that a number of people visit the office every Friday, sometimes traveling from isolated regions.
