Greece among top preferred destinations for gays and lesbians

The research asked respondents to indicate which destinations they plan to visit next year from a list of more than 300 separate locations.

According to the world’s largest LGBT research study that was released on Wednesday at this year’s World Travel Market in London, Greece and Athens are among the top preferred holiday destinations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

The research asked respondents to indicate which destinations they plan to visit next year from a list of more than 300 separate locations.

More specifically, the findings released by the leading global travel networking association Out Now Business Class (ONBC) rank Greece 9th on the list of Top 10 Countries for LGBT Travel in 2015.

Athens, the country’s capital was ranked 9th in the Top 10 European City Destinations for LGBT Travel in 2015.

The 3 top country destination are U.S., France and Australia while Amsterdam, London and Paris are the most popular cities.

According to the CEO of Out Now Global Ian Johnson, these research findings deliver much actionable information to better inform the tourism industry for 2015.

“The number one motivating factor for consumers is needing to know before they go that they can relax and be comfortable being themselves on holidays,” Johnson says. “Nobody wants to worry that the staff that serve them in a location might be uncomfortable with their sexual orientation or gender identity. People would prefer to stay elsewhere.”
