Greece: Counterterrorism operation in Athens – Eight arrests

The operation has been ongoing since Tuesday morning – Information suggests that the arrests are related to an explosion at a bank in Petralona in late January

Since Tuesday morning, a large counterterrorism operation has been underway in Athens.

Information indicates that at least eight individuals have been arrested and are being held at the General Police Directorate of Attica following raids in various areas of Athens.

According to the same information, the arrests are related to the bombing attack that occurred on January 25 at a bank on in Petralona, Athens.

Three days after the explosion, the newly emerged organization “Collaboration of Revenge” claimed responsibility.

Police are conducting searches at the homes of the detainees.

The explosive device in Petralona had detonated a few minutes after 03:00′ in the early hours of January 25.

As a result of the bomb explosion, material damage was caused to a parked car, as well as a crater from the blast.
