Greece is amongst the heaviest drinking countries in the world!

Greeks, along with the rest of Europe – Italy excluded – love their booze

Alcohol consumption varies by country and as the world map of alcohol consumption shows, Greeks, along with the rest of Europe – Italy excluded – love their booze.

According to the map released by the World Health Organization, the strongest drinkers in the world are definitely the Russians and their neighbors, the Belarusians and the Ukrainians. The reason for that may be the extremely cold climate in those countries.

Portugal, Granada and Andorra also have very high rates of alcohol consumption (certainly not due to the cold). The average amount of pure alcohol consumed in each one of these countries is more than 12.5 liters per capita, for people over the age of 15 years old in 2010.
