Greek Orthodox priest gets 12 years prison for sexual abuse

Former priest was removed by church authorities

A Greek-American former priest was convicted on four felony counts of sexual abuse of a minor in Main, USA, March 2015. Adam Metropoulos, 53, the former Greek Orthodox priest faced charges of sexually abusing a 15-year old altar server in 2006 and 2007. The name of the Vermont man abused, who is now 24, has not been released. He filed a law suit against the Metropoulos, his supervisors and the Church community he served. The Metropolis of Boston removed Metropoulos from his position at the Bangor Church following his arrest. Metropoulos was sentenced to 12 years in prison in April 2015, with all but 6 and half years suspended. fater he was arrested. The victim claimed to have sustained severe and permanent physical injury, emotional distress, mental anguish and future and past medical expenses because of Metropoulos’ sexual abuse.
