Greek photoreporter named Wire Photographer of 2015 (stunning pics)

Even if you don’t know the name Angelos Tzortzinis, you’ve probably seen his work!

AFP’s photoreporter Angelos Tzortzinis, aged 27, was named Time magazine’s Wire Photographer of 2015 for his images that succinctly document the refugee crisis in Greece as it evolves as well as the country’s economic crisis.

The Greek photographer was honored “for his heartfelt work documenting his country’s response to two unprecedented crises,” said Time.
Tzortzinis himself says that he focused on Greece “because I’m a part of it.” He states: “I’m not just a visitor. I live inside the problem and I feel it daily. I’m really confused and troubled by it, so I try to find answers to the questions I have through my photos.”

Tzortzinis began his career as an independent photographer before capturing the attention of the AFP and joining on as a stringer in 2007. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Time, Newsweek and other publications.

And it’s not just Greece that Tzortzinis manages to capture through his amazing pics, as he has also covered news in several countries in the Middle East and in Ukraine. His work has been exhibited at the 2012 and 2013 Visa Pour l’Image festivals in France and the Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism in Germany.
