Greek shoppers are becoming more tech-savvy when shopping online

Annual data for electronic commerce in Greece presented by the Electronic Trade Workshop (ELTRUN) shows a 10% increase in online purchases in 2015 and predicts an upward trend for 2016. The study found that 43% of Greeks believe that online purchases would increase in 2016 in relation to 2015, whereas just 19% believe the opposite is true.

Greek consumers online trends

– Tourism and travel services are the top two choices of Greeks, whereas gadgets and computer supplies occupy the third place.

– Greek online buyers choose to purchase from their cell phones and for the first time, internet access for online shopping via the cell phone (89%) has surpassed laptop purchases.

– 33% of offline purchases follow online searches for the products Greeks wish to buy.

– The main sources of research are from sites where there are price comparisons (72% from 63% in 2014), company’s websites (62%) and review pages (52%).

– The main reasons for online purchases are prices and offers.
