The International Exhibition “Greek Tourism Expo 2014” is taking place at the Metropolitan Exhibition Center in Athens from December 5-7. The goal of the expo is to surpass the “sea and sun” image that Greece has and cast the spotlight on alternative tourism offered by Greece that is of interest for both domestic tourists as well as foreign visitors.
There are numerous exhibition sections, covering all types of tourism, such as:
* Marine tourism
* Religious and pilgrimage tourism
* Archaeological and cultural tourism
* City Break tourism
* Conference tourism
* Sport recreational tourism
* Agrotourism and ecotourism
* Gastronomy Tourism
* Health tourism
The expo will be embellished by a number of parallel events, such as:
* An International Conference titled “Greek Tourism in the New Era” that includes participants such as the ministries and public institutions of Greece, chambers, tourism professional organizations and enterprises from Greece and abroad.
* The 1st International Meeting of Chambers is a special session of the International Conference.
* The 1st National meeting of Regions on Tourism Prefects will bring mayors and local government officials to participate in and propose solutions for the development of Greek tourism.
* There will be an international forum on Greek gastronomy bearing in mind that Greek gastronomy and the Mediterranean diet have become a new marketing tool for Greek tourism. The contribution of Greek cuisine in the quality of tourism will be presented with the participation of the official bodies of the tourism industry, experts and producers of Greek food and beverages. The Forum will highlight the possibilities of extroversion of the Greek Enterprises of Traditional Products Business and the Greek local cuisine through tourism.
* A forum on Greek Ports and Cruise Ships includes the participation of the relevant professional bodies and businesses, the opportunities, the dynamics and the importance of cruise tourism will be emphasized as well as the need for changes in infrastructure and services for the operation of home porting and the ways of economic and quality supply of cruise ships.
The Meet the Greeks program
The initiative of the event is to attract international buyers, travel agencies and other professionals. “Meet the Greeks” is accompanied
* by many interesting events to promote various local tourist sites and their products
* by scheduled and well-organized B2B business meetings of the visitors with the exhibitors to particularly boost the conclusion of important trade agreements with, especially, companies in the field of tourism.
There is free transportation for all visitors to and from the Exhibition Center with organizer’s Mini Bus from Metro Station Doukissis Plakentias.
