Greek triple-jumper is the oldest (41) athlete in the 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships

He qualified for the finals in Turkey

Dimitris Tsiamis, who is the oldest (41) athlete at the 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Constantinople (Istanbul), jumped 16.26 m in his third jump in the preliminary event of the triple jump and qualified with the 7th best in today’s final.

Tsiamis had a fault in his second attempt and jumped 16.26 m in the third. The top performance of the qualifier was achieved by the great Pedro Pitsardo (Portugal) with 17.48 m, the only one of the 17 who reached the limit (16.70 m) to qualify for the final.

Tsiamis, in 2021 was seventh in the direct final of Torun with 16.40 m, while in his other appearances in the event in 2011 in Paris and 2013 in Gothenburg, he had not qualified for the final.

Nikos Andrikopoulos also made an excellent appearance, with 16.39 m in his third and last jump, and while he was out of the top 8 until that time, he qualified for the final with his sixth jump. Andrikopoulos equaled his individual indoor record. The athlete was in the final of the triple jump in the Toruń event.
