Missing elderly American couple in Greece found dead (video-photos)

They were living in the Peloponnese

An elderly American couple that had gone missing since January 23 from their home in Methoni Greece has been found dead.

The developments in the case of the disappearance of the American couple from Methoni were rapid, as after the detection of their car in Taygetos, a mountain range on the Peloponnese peninsula in Southern Greece, immediately after, the authorities discovered two bodies, which reportedly belong to 83-year-old David Harrison Robinson and his 80-year-old wife, Lucretia Robinson, who had not given any signs of life since January 23.

After they mysteriously vanished, their daughter declared them missing to Greek authorities. According to friends of the family, Julianna Robinson, their daughter has started the proceedings for her parents’ will. A friend of the family had spoken to protothema.gr about the couple’s disappearance and had expressed his fears for their fate and the note they left for their daughter to read, on the table at home, before they disappeared.

The couple had left America and lived for years in their own house in the Dapia Methoni area. They had also become friendly with several of the permanent residents. Their friend from the area is also the woman who reported their disappearance on February 6th at the Kalamata police station and who had been looking for them by phone since January 23rd.

A few hours ago, their death was confirmed, while the autopsy is awaited to establish the exact manner and time in which the elderly couple died.

According to information, the men of the Fire Department are trying to retrieve the woman’s body from the cliff first, while the man’s body is 80 metres away from where the 80-year-old woman was found. According to the same information, the woman’s body was found face down, while there are bites from wild animals on her lifeless body. An operation had been organised to search for the couple in which volunteers also participated, while searches were also carried out from above using drones. The material collected was carefully checked and the couple’s blue car was located at the scene. Firefighters, police, and members of the EMAK rushed to the spot where the vehicle and the bodies of the two Americans were found.

The couple’s daughter, who was initially convinced her parents had taken their own lives, confirmed in a Facebook post that the elderly couple had been found dead.

“My parents’ bodies were just found at the base of a cliff. No other details yet. It will take several days for their bodies to be recovered, officially identified, and a death certificate issued. More info as I can, when I can,” the couple’s daughter wrote in her post.
