Grenade accident in Cyprus training camp – One soldier injured

His health condition is considered serious but his life is not in danger

A Greek soldier serving in Nicosia was injured by a grenade explosion during an exercise at a National Guard camp.

The soldier was taken to hospital and is undergoing surgery.

His health condition is considered serious but his life is not in danger.

The statement of the General Staff on the soldier’s injury

The General Staff of the Army announces that, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 21, 2024, soldier M.K., serving with the Hellenic Force Cyprus, was injured during a scheduled training activity.

He was immediately provided with first aid and was taken to a Nicosia Hospital where he is being treated.

The causes and circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
