Initiation of proceedings to ban the Communist Party have started in Ukraine

The Communist Party, which supports the positions of the separatists, counts 23 MPs out of a total 450 in the Ukrainian parliament

Today, as announced by the Minister of Justice Mr. Pavlo Petrenko during a press conference, the Ukrainian government launched legal action in order to ban the Communist Party of the country. The communist party is being accused of supporting the pro-Russian separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine.

Already, since the beginning of the conflict between the supporters of the national unity and the pro-Russian security forces, there have been accusations aimed at the local organizations of the Communist Party that actively cooperated with the latter.

Mr. Petrenko stated that “Based on ample evidence about the illegal activities of the Communist Party, I took the decision to extend the county administrative court request for its ban”.

The Minister’s request has been recorded , but the date of the examination has not yet been determined.
