Insane “Twilight Zone” moment in Greek football match! Did the ball go into the net or not? (video)

Our eyes can play tricks on us...

Newsroom October 9 07:25

Greek fans watching a football match on TV might have thought they were in the Twilight Zone for a second when they saw the ball “clearly” go wide of the goalposts only to realise a split second later that in fact, the ball had ended up in the back of the net for a goal.

What had happened was that the combination of the camera angle, and the sun casting a shadow on the upright created an optical illusion that the ball had gone wide. Unfortunately for the home side supporters in the Novibet Greek cup between Kambanakos and Asteras Tripolis, the ball, which deflected off Kaltsa’s shot to Miritelos did indeed rest in the back of the net.
