For a while now, the police authorities in Kalamata have been dealing with a heartbreaking narrative reminiscent of the “Kostalex” incident. At its core is a 29-year-old woman compelled by her parents to reside within improvised wooden enclosures due to what her relatives assert is a severe psychosomatic ailment. This condition has led her to exhibit aggression and pose a danger to other members of the family.
The case began in July 2022 when the Kalamata Police Department received a prosecutor’s order to investigate the illegal detention and exposure of a 29-year-old woman. She has been diagnosed with moderate intellectual disability and psychosomatic illness, causing aggressive behavior. Authorities found makeshift wooden cages in her room, installed by her parents to prevent harm. A psychiatrist confirmed her condition, stating she doesn’t require psychiatric hospitalization. The investigation by the Hellenic Police is ongoing.
