Kifissia suburb’s mayor tied up, robbed during home raid

Luckily, the bandits only wanted the household’s valuables, ransacking the apartment in the process

You know things are getting a little risky when robbers break into the home of the mayor of one of Greece’s most upscale districts and tie him and his wife up before looting the place.
The victim in this case is the mayor of Kifissia, an eponymous northern Athens suburb associated with leafy lots and “old money”.
According to reports, mayor Giorgos Thomakos was roughed up and tied up after he accosted three burglars in his apartment residence. The thuggish trio also tied up his wife but failed to spot the couple’s nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son. The children hid – some reports claim — and then emerged to untie their parents. Another report has the kids simply sleeping through the break-in.
Luckily, the early morning bandits only wanted the household’s valuables, ransacking the non-descript apartment in the process.
