Last night at Eurovision: “One Last Breath” to make its way to Finals! (photos + videos)

The song gets another "breath" of life on Saturday

Maria-Elena Kyriakou drew “One Last Breath” with her throaty voice and was sent to the 60th Eurovision Song Contest 2015 finals in Vienna, Austria.

She stole the show with her dynamic presence, beauty and of course – voice – getting one of the ten coveted tickets to the Saturday finals. Both the audience and critics said “Yes” to another breath for Greece.

 

She performed on Tuesday in the sixth place with the song she co-wrote with Efthyvoulos Theoharous, with lyrics by Vangelos Konstantinidis and Evelina Tziora.

Greece was also the sixth county called out for a coveted entry to the finals.

The other nine countries from the 1st semi-finals making their way to the finals along with Greece:

– Russia

– Albania

– Armenia

– Romania

– Hungary

– Εsthonia

– Georgia

– Serbia

– Belgium

Backing Maria Elena in the vocals are Alexandros Economou and Katerina Kyriakou.

The Finnish heavy metal group also managed to create commotion, however didn’t make its way to the finals.

Following the two rehearsals, the Cypriot singer representing Greece told Proto Thema: “There is a great deal of anxiety, but we will do well. We are absolutely satisfied with rehearsals. We performed brilliantly at the general rehearsal that the committee ranked.”

Eurovision can be viewed on NERIT, NERIT HD and is broadcast from the Second Program of Greek radio. Maria Kazakou and George Kapoutzidis are the presenters of the two semi-finals.

Eurovision winner for 2005, Elena Paparizou, will announce Greece’s votes during the finals.

2nd SEMIFINALS, THURSDAY, MAY 21

The finals on May 23 will include participation by 27 countries. Twenty of the countries will be selected from the first two semi-finals (10 per night) whereas the other Big Five are France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. Austria goes straight to the finals as last year’s Eurovision winner whereas Australia is a newcomer with an honorary appearance to the popular contest.
