Main opposition ND: Greek economy should be examined since 1981

In an announcement issued after a meeting of ND’s informal political council

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) said on Friday that it will soon submit a proposal for the establishment of a Committee which will be responsible of investigating the Greek economy from 1981 onwards, in order to determine the reasons that led the country to the bailout programs.

In an announcement issued after a meeting of ND’s informal political council, chaired by party leader Antonis Samaras, the main opposition stressed that the procedure should start after Greece strikes a deal with its creditors.

During the meeting it was also decided that ND will vote against ruling SYRIZA’s proposal for an investigative Committee. However, the main opposition agreed to participate in its meetings with party officials.
