Matthew Perry: “Chandler’s” cause of death still unknown – The prescription drugs found at his home

There were no illegal drugs on the premises, but a lot of prescription drugs

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on Sunday released its first report on Matthew Perry, who died Saturday at the age of 54.

Perry on Oct. 28 was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home around 4 p.m. (local time), law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times.

On Sunday, the coroner’s office updated its file online, saying the cause of death had been “postponed.” This usually means an autopsy has been completed, but the medical examiner needs more time and additional investigation into the death, as was the case with Lisa Marie Presley, whose cause of death was postponed last January and after toxicology tests the doctor re-evaluated the case and determined the cause of death.

The coroner also cited “other significant conditions” as the cause of death. Perry’s place of death was listed as his residence. His case remains open.

According to People, Perry’s autopsy results are pending a toxicology report, which could take several weeks to complete.

Several prescription drugs were found at Matthew Perry’s home, law enforcement sources told TMZ Sunday.

“There were no illegal drugs on the premises, but a lot of prescription drugs. Authorities found anti-depressants, anti-anxiety medication and a drug for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in the home,” the US outlet reported.

COPD refers to diseases that cause airflow obstruction and breathing-related problems, according to the CDC. The disease is often caused by smoking and can cause emphysema or chronic bronchitis. Perry has previously admitted to being a lifelong smoker.

The actor was found dead on Saturday in the jacuzzi at his home in Los Angeles. According to authorities, emergency responders arrived at his home at 4:07 p.m. (local time) after receiving a 911 call.

The most likely scenario according to reports, is that the actor suffered a heart attack and drowned in his jacuzzi. Police will continue to investigate the actor’s death.
