Mission Accomplished! Mugged cancer survivor gets money for Greek vacation

Pensioner John Jokes, aged 70, saw his dreams of a respite from cancer go down the drain… but then donations poured in!

A campaign to raise money for pensioner John Jukes, aged 70, and fulfil his quest to visit the Greek islands has closed after smashing its target. More than 2,652 pounds were raised online via a donation site.

The Cheltenham pensioner, a cancer survivor, was mugged on March 31 in broad daylight the day before he was due to fly to Greece. The trip was to celebrate the end of five weeks of intensive chemotherapy prior to a bone marrow transplant due to take place in May.

Eve, John’s wife, thanked everyone who gave an update on John’s health and thanked those who donated.

The couple now have the money needed for a Greek island vacation to Mykonos and Santorini, thus fulfiling their dream of a lifetime!
