Mitsotakis from Gavdos: “Greece does not accept suggestions about its sovereign rights”

He became only the second Prime Minister to visit the island

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent a message of support to the regions at the borders of the country from Gavdos.

The Prime Minister attended the water consecration ceremony today, Friday January 6, Epiphany Day from the island of Crete.

From there, he emphasized the need to draw up a strategy for environmental protection and soft development, while also expressing his personal interest and support, as Prime Minister and as a Chaniot to the people of the island.

At the same time, he sent a message of peaceful coexistence. “Greece does not accept suggestions on how to assert its sovereign rights. Surveys have begun west of Gavdos for the existence of natural gas deposits. I call on the neighboring states to enter into fruitful negotiations with Greece. As we did with Egypt, we can do it with Libya as well”.
