Mitsotakis in Kovachevski: Skopje’s accession to the EU directly linked to the full implementation of the Prespa Agreement

Mitsotakis-Kovachevski agreed to meet in April, Skopje announced

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a telephone conversation with the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Dimitar Kovachevski.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis congratulated Mr. Kovachevski on assuming his duties and reiterated Greece’s support for the European perspective of the Western Balkans, in accordance with the criteria set.

This support, the Prime Minister stressed, is directly linked to the full, consistent and in good faith implementation of the Prespa Agreement, which is also part of the accession process.

During the conversation, the mutual will was noted to strengthen multilateral bilateral relations and bilateral cooperation, with emphasis on the economic and trade sector.

A statement from the Government of Northern Macedonia regarding the telephone conversation between the Prime Ministers of Northern Macedonia, Dimitar Kovachevski and Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, stated today that the two Prime Ministers agreed that relations between the two countries are at an excellent level and that the partnership will continue to be built and strengthened.

“Prime Ministers Kovacevski and Mitsotakis also discussed economic co-operation, co-operation in the fields of energy, culture and other important areas and agreed to meet at the Delphi Forum in Athens in April 2022”, the statement added.
