PM Mitsotakis: Athens’ support for Skopje’s EU accession process depends on the full implementation of the Prespa Agreement

The agreement, he stressed, is an integral part of the enlargement process

The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met at the Maximos Palace with the President of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, who is paying an official visit to Greece at the invitation of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Stevo Pentarovski confirmed the important momentum that is being formed in bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest.

They agreed on the need to deepen and expand bilateral co-operation, with an emphasis on the economy, investment, energy and connectivity sectors.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Greece’s support for the European accession process of the Western Balkans and Northern Macedonia in particular, in accordance with the criteria set.

In this context, he stressed that the strengthening of relations between the two countries and Athens’ support for Skopje’s EU accession process depend entirely on the full, consistent and in good faith implementation of the Prespa Agreement, which is an integral part of the enlargement process.
