Mitsotakis: It is unthinkable to demand early elections

“The Parliament supports the government, we do not have to ask Tsipras for anything,” Minister for Administrative Reform said

Minister for Administrative Reform Kyriakos Mitsotakis commented on the meeting between the leader of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras and President of Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias and on the fact that he asked for national elections.

Mr Mitsotakis accused the leader of SYRIZA of seeing the election as “an assault at the summer palace” adding that “he did not win the bet. His message for toppling the government was not received by the citizens” said to SKAI.

Referring to the possibility of elections he stressed: “The Parliament shows its confidence to the government, we do not have to ask Tsipras for anything,”.

Regarding the European election results, Mr. Mitsotakis admitted that citizens have sent their message to the coalition government, too, but he clarified that the European elections are very different from the national elections.

He also said that SYRIZA has failed to benefit from the fact that the government was wounded due to the difficult measures that should be taken and said that the first priority should be to speed up the tasks so as the government plan addressing unemployment to be completed soon.
