Moskovisi: It will be a pity for Greece to find its self facing Grexit

According to the Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs “Greece and its people have done so much and have undergone many sacrifices”

Following his meeting earlier today with the Greek Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, the Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, Pierre Moskovisi expressed his view that ” It will be a pity for Greece to find its self facing Grexit, after the significant works that has already done”.

The Commissioner arrived in Athens in order to discuss with the Greek authorities about the next day for Greece, as well as to close the evaluation and to discuss the preventive service “that will protect our country during the first post-memorandum year of 2015.

Following the 45 minute long meeting Mr. Moskovisi spoke of a “Great progress” made in Greece, that nobody can dispute.

However, he stressed that there is a need for structural reforms, not only for Greece but for all Eurozone countries as well, while acknowledging that Greece and the Greek people have made a great effort, “the greatest ever.”

Furthermore, according to the Commissioner: “By watching the figures of growth and unemployment, it was necessary to make these reforms in order to strengthen the Greek economy”. Mr. Moskovisi continued by noting that “More reforms from this program which stretched for two months must apply, in order to achieve a different kind of relationship between the EU and Greece, through credit support line. ”

Finally, the Commissioner for Economic Affairs expressed his hope that Greece will complete the remaining two months of the program, the evaluation and “to create a new relationship between Greece and European Commission for a better future.”
